The consulting company, DAI, is managing a USAID-sponsored program for Orangutan Conservation and is recruiting Regional Communication Officer for its Kalimantan office. Responsibilities will include:

* Develop communication implementation plan for Kalimantan region based on the national and regional communications strategy

* Develop strong media outreach in order to gain support from media for orangutan conservation program in Kalimantan

* Develop communication and publications materials (press releases, reports, brochures, leaflets, posters, etc) to: i) increase profile and support for orangutan and forest conservation in Kalimantan region, and ii) gain political and financial supports for orangutan conservation in Kalimantan

* Coordinate with the National Communications Coordinator and regularly contribute stories, articles, information and other input into the development of the national communications program.

* Coordinate with the National Communications Coordinator to support implementation of grant number 3 (National Media Campaign)

* Working closely with Kalimantan communications working groups for regional campaign design and implementation

* Liaise and develop a good communication with provincial and district key stakeholders and partner organizations. This include facilitate linkages between and among partner organizations.

* Organize exchange visits to successful orangutan conservation programs

* Communicate success stories, to local and regional media, government, private sectors, potential donors, and other interested people

* Document results, lessons learned, best practices, and case studies from pilot locations;

* Promote sharing information on conservation of orangutan with other stakeholders and develop a relevant database (e.g best practices, technical reports, training materials, spatial data)

* Coordinate regularly with the Kalimantan OCSP technical team and provide contributions to reports, workplans, and deliverables to USAID and government counterparts as requested by Kalimantan Regional Coordinator

* Carry out other activities to support the OCSP mission as requested by the Kalimantan Regional Coordinator Kalimantan Regional Communication Officer is based in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, and reports to the Kalimantan Regional Coordinator. He/She will work closely with the National Communications Coordinator who is based in Jakarta

Qualifications:

A university degree in Communication or Social Science and at least 5 years related work experience. Strong background in Communications and Environment would be an advantage. Good interpersonal skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken, a plus.
